MY NAME IS Maya Soul Paustian I AM A Stylist AND I LIVE IN COPENHAGEN.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN COPENHAGEN?
My whole life, so born and raised.
DESCRIBE WHERE YOU GREW UP...
Born in the outskirts of Frederiksberg, moved to Hellerup, a little north of the city, when I was 5. It was a nice small town house with a little garden and was perfect for growing up as a kid with friends to play with all around.
DESCRIBE WHERE YOU LIVE NOW...
I live on Nørrebro and have lived in here forever it seems like. My mom moved here when I was around 15, so a lot of my older teen years and adult life has been here. It’s a more down to earth and chill neighbourhood where there’s room for everyone, which I really appreciate.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR FRIENDSHIP GROUP?
Eclectic! I have a lot of different people in my life, different ages and paths.
WHAT MAKES COPENHAGEN SUCH A SPECIAL PLACE TO LIVE AND CREATE IN?
It’s convenient, because it’s a small city, so nothing is really that far away. The different neighborhoods in the city all have a distinct personality. In my industry everyone knows everyone it seems like, which makes it nice and hard at the same time.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE ENERGY OF THE CITY RIGHT NOW?
Alive! Summer is here so people are coming out of winter hibernation, so hope and positivity is prevalent.

HOW HAS LIVING IN COPENHAGEN SHAPED THE WAY YOU DRESS?
First thing that comes to mind is practical minimalism. Biking around town is very common, so I often find myself wearing flats, shorter jackets, so they don’t get stuck in the bike wheels etc.
WHAT DEFINES COPENHAGEN STYLE TO YOU?
Comfort, minimalism, hygge, not to overdressed, with an element of chicness.
WHO OR WHAT IN COPENHAGEN INSPIRES YOU MOST CREATIVELY?
My friends and a lot of the circles i find myself in.
ARE THERE ARTISTS, DESIGNERS, OR CREATIVES FROM COPENHAGEN WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?
Nicklas Skovgaard!

YOUR FAVOURITE CAFÉ OR PLACE TO MEET FRIENDS?
There’s a lot! Not sure I can name one… But for a more fine dining/white table cloth vibe, The Center of Copenhagen is the spot. More relaxed, Nørrebro.
A HIDDEN SPOT IN COPENHAGEN YOU ALWAYS RECOMMEND TO VISITORS?
Not sure it’s that hidden, but I recommend Dzidra a lot.
5 PLACES EVERYONE MUST VISIT (IDEALLY SPEAK TO THE PLACES YOU VISIT)
Dzidra: Breakfast and lunch
THE MUSEUM: Statens Naturhistoriske Museum
Restaurant Maison: A little posh, very good French food
Assistents Cemetery: People use it as a park as well
Bar, Kronborggade: Late night drinks
WHAT FEELING DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE TAKE AWAY WHEN THEY EXPERIENCE COPENHAGEN STYLE?
Good question haha.
For myself, I like mixing, so even though it’s simple, a little element of something playful or a shape/color/texture etc that breaks it up a bit.
